A note about the WOXOF room : WOXOF is an acronym that stands for “weather obscured, zero visibility, and fog.” That means no flying and when that happens pilots visit the bar. The Low Ceiling in the room portrays fog. It is a very unique room, filled with lots of memorabilia and history.

Navy League of the United States
The San Diego Council presented the Military Sea Services Spouse of the Year Awards
As it had for the past three years, the San Diego Council sponsored a luncheon at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley Hotel on 11 December 2014 to honor seven young women who represented the local commands for the title of Military Sea Service Spouse of the Year. Each received a red rose for her nomination.
The Mistress of Ceremonies, Ms. Pamela Ammerman, introduced the then Council President-Elect Mr. Jon Berg-Johnsen and the event chair Ms. Joan Mitchell to assist in presenting the Certificates and awards. The selection process is long and includes completing a detailed packet listing each spouses achievements and ends with a personal essay on how the balance their activities and life’s priorities.
The Navy Spouse of the Year was Nicole Palmer, nominated by Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command. She is an integral part in the success of the command’s Moral, Welfare, and Recreation program where she designed merchandise to help raise more than $7,000 in support of the fund. She volunteered more than 400 hours to her children’s elementary school where she oversaw a fund raising dinner and the school’s talent show. Palmer stated “that writing an essay was a challenge as she felt her journey was not unique and there are others on the same journey,” however, she felt that “finding that balance between activities and life’s priorities was extremely rewarding.”
The Marine Spouse of the Year was Nicole Webb, nominated by Commanding General, 1st Marine Division. She volunteered her time to Family Day BBQ’s, the Marines Ball Gown Giveaway, the Christmas Party, and the Toys for Tots program. Shu also volunteers at the children’s school and works with the Good Samaritan program. Webb said “her life revolves around her family whether it is school activities, or deployments.” She feels with “balancing her priorities with family and volunteering, she has been able to expand their experiences and community involvement by instilling the values of being a good citizen.”
The Coast Guard Spouse of the Year was Mary Amerson, nominated by the U. S. Coast Guard Commanding Officer, U.S. Sector San Diego. Amerson received a Letter of Appreciation from the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security for her volunteerism. She is the Sector Ombudsman for her husband’s command and also for another command as they did not have an ombudsman. When the wildfires swept throughout San Diego County she helped relocate families that had to evacuate their homes. Amerson works closely with the new personnel as they transition to the local community. She feels “a work-life balance is integral for making time for volunteering and activities.”
The Council supports many projects and honoring the families of the Sea Services members is all important. The seven selected balanced not only their military community with their work and home life, but also serve their local community as well. The selected women are a credit to all that they do along with their commitment to patriotism and family life.
The other nominees were: Tiffany Rudy, nominated by Commanding General, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing; Jenna Shelton, nominated by Commanding General, 1st Marine Logistics Group; Sarra Suazo, nominated by Commander, Naval Air Force Pacific; and Lupi Tupo, nominated by Commanding General, Marine Corps Depot/Western Recruiting Region.
The luncheon was sponsored by local Community Affiliates and Corporate companies such as Classic Chariots, Lockheed Martin, Navy Federal Credit Union, San Diego Gas & Electric, the Girl Scouts of San Diego and the San Diego Council.
The three winners received a certificate from the Mayor of the City of San Diego, Kevin Faulconer, and a basket fill with goodies along with $100 gift card, and four tickets to a 2015 San Diego Padres Sunday Military Appreciation home game. Each spouse received a $1,000.00 check from the Council.
The nominees and winners are amazing women who hold all the ideals of every military spouse and the San Diego Council was proud to introduce seven more outstanding women to the community.

Classic Chariots raised just under $1,000 in the annual Red Shoe Day fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House charity. The Ronald McDonald House is an amazing charity that supports the families of children with cancer by providing homes for the families while the kids go through cancer treatment.
We are beyond humbled by the generous donations from the people of Vista. It was truly heartwarming to see so many people give so selflessly to a great cause. We love being about to get out in the community and give back. We met some amazing people and made some awesome new friends.
Overall, San Diegans raised $150,000 for the charity on Red Shoe Day 2012. Click the link below to see our pictures from the event.

Military Recognition Ceremonies in San Diego
Due to the strong relationship we have with our local military, Classic Chariots is a proud sponsor and participates in many of the recognition, commendation and graduation ceremonies that take place in San Diego. Below are some of the more recent events we have attended.
Classic Chariots and Trees For Troops
In December, Classic Chariots sponsored the Camp Pendleton Trees For Troops event. This is an incredible even held every year - members of the military line up as early as midnight the night before in order to get free donated Christmas trees for themselves and their families. Classic Chariots gave out cookies and coloring books to keep those waiting in line comfortable while they were waiting for their Christmas trees.
Finally, at 11:30am, the trucks pulled up and several volunteers unloaded hundreds of Christmas trees of all sizes - from small trees to trees over 8 feet tall. This was a great holiday event with loads of holiday cheer, and we look forward to attending next year's Trees For Troops!
Classic Chariots Christmas Carnival
On December 8th of 2012, Classic Chariots hosted its fourth annual Holiday/Christmas Carnival at the dealership with completely free admission for all. Right off of Emerald in Vista, everyone got in on the fun for hours of food and entertainment from 11am to 5pm. We had a surprisingly large turnout and we were happy to give back to our great community. Everyone got to enjoy delicious food. we had burgers, hot dogs, treats, drinks and snacks. There were plenty of tables and chairs to sit, eat, and relax while everybody was watching the children play and have fun.
Children had the opportunity to enjoy the challenge and victory of carnival games, prizes and a bounce house with interior rooms and slide! There was even a professional face painter that masterfully created face designs for boys and girls alike. Santa also showed up to give out candy and hear requests from everyone! Classic Chariots even provided pictures of the children and families with Santa, which were printed out on the spot to be taken home for free.
Throughout the course of the day everyone who came was automatically entered into the raffle for fantastic prizes without any purchase necessary. Winners got to take home various gifts such as a Kindle Fire, DVD player, several Christmas Trees, numerous Starbucks gift cards, vacuums and kitchen tools, and congratulations to Ryan Robinson as the winner of the FREE CAR!!
We’d love to give special thanks to My Little Carnival for the games and bounce house, Susan Farley for face painting, and of course Santa and everyone who came and made this event blast and a special time for everyone.
MCAS Miramar Airshow
Every year at MCAS Miramar in Miramar, California, there is an air show to remember the legacy of American aviation as well as the power of the US Military. This is a three-day event that is free to attend, to so needless to say - it draws in quite a crowd! On each day, you'll see aerobatic performances, stunts, and the world famous Blue Angels. The air show is also a chance to see aircraft up close; both modern and historical aircraft are showcased right on the taxiway.
Classic Chariots has been a proud sponsor for this event for three years in a row! We've really enjoyed talking to the active and retired military and even some of the mechanics working there at the air show. Every year we hand out prizes and giveaways, and in 2009 and 2010 we had a vehicle on display. All together, the event was fun, loud and educational.
Camp Pendleton - Kids First Fair
The Camp Pendleton Kids First Fair is a chance for military children and teens to relax for at least one day and avoid the stresses military family life. The event features several booths with prizes, games and giveaways. In 2010, Classic Chariots gave out hundreds of toy cars and car plushies, as well as hundreds of coloring books and key chains. We also provided free face painting for the kids.
For the 2011 event, the second year in a row we've sponsored, we went all out and raffled away over 20 bikes for both military boys and girls! Of course, we also had our Classic Chariots coloring books, key chains and a face painter. We were blown away by the response this year - we had a line stretching across the entire parking lot for coloring books and face painting!
Camp Pendleton Mud Run
In June, 2010, Classic Chariots was a sponsor for the World Famous Mud Run on Camp Pendleton. The Mud Run is a tough 7 mile run through obstacles and rough terrain, a swim through a lake, and even a tour through Combat Town, a marine training area. Over 15,000 people participate in this event every year. Classic Chariots sponsored a team with members made up from the USS Haddock and our own employees.
Classic Chariots was set up near the start/finish line and had a vehicle on display. We also handed out bottle openers to all the finishing contestants. The Mud Run was held over a period of three days and had 2 starts/finishes (one for single participants and one for teams). The Teams category was possibly the most interesting, as many weren't after a competitive time. It seemed that there was an unspoken competition to have the most interesting team costumes!
San Diego's "Golf With A Hero"
Golf With A Hero is a yearly golfing competition for Marines and other military personnel. The competition was at Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside, just outside of Camp Pendleton. Several amateur and experienced golfers showed up for a fun time on the green. Prior to the competition, we had a chance to talk to the competitors as they arrived, and after the competition, a dinner was provided for the competitors courtesy of Arrowood Golf Course's kitchen.
Classic Chariots sponsored one of the tees at Golf With a Hero. In both 2010 and 2011, we had a car on display just outside the tee box. At this year's tournament, we had the Classic Chariots XB parked up on the hill next to the tee. We handed out key chains and had a chance to talk with many of the military men and women present.
Oceanside Harbor Days
In fall of 2010, Classic Chariots attended the Oceanside Harbor Days. The theme for 2010 included festive pirates in authentic pirate costumes and a reenactment of a naval battle. Other events included a nail and sail boat competition, where competitors created boats that very morning using only specified materials. They had to take their custom boat and attempt to do one run along the harbor. The boats that sank where disqualified, and actually, most of them ended up sinking.
A USMC L-Cat, an amazing hover craft, was on display on the beach, and there was an awesome demonstration of its sea-to-land capabilities. Classic Chariots handed out prizes and giveaways, including coloring books and key chains. Despite the cold weather, everyone had a great time!
San Diego USO Dinner
The USO San Diego is an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the U.S. Armed Forces personnel and their families and creating a cooperative relationship between U.S. military communities. Every year they have concerts, dinners and events.
In 2010, Classic Chariots sponsored and worked at two USO Dinners. To help military families and the military themselves, we worked with the San Diego chapter of the USO to put on the two buffet dinners. We served up some delicious stir fry Chinese food that was enjoyed by everyone! We hope to support our military with many more events such as this.
